DESCRIPTION:
APW - Columbus, "Judson & Robie, Rochester NY" marked mvt and dial, 16J, 18S, heavy 14K gold HC with scalloped band, very attractive engraving detail including a majestic buck scene to rear, front shield with stacked initials, gold cuvette with elegant 1891 presentation engraving, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, two-tone gilt and nickel damascene, s#102463. Gross weight of assembled watch 89.8 dwt (139.7 g). Judson & Robie were jewelers located at 256 East Main Street, and this firm operated in Rochester under this name between 1887 and 1892.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Running after a sluggish start, excellent-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, excellent two-tone color, some scattered small surface spots and mild micro-fine scratches, few small specks of oxide to regulator assembly; dial with two light blue hls below seconds-register, very small light blue hl under bezel at setting lever area; nearly mint hour and seconds-hand, fine minute hand with oxide to its tip and to its central hub; case with somewhat weak front lift spring needing a touch of assistance to progress through the initial part of its opening range, case shows little wear, no dents or dings, good engraving detail with mild reduction, one ambiguous mark to inner rim of case rear (outside mvt regulator index) is open to interpretation as to whether it is evident of a past mvt having been within this case or if it is simply a meaningless stray mark; tight bow thinned very slightly at top, crown shows light wear; good glass crystal.
